ANTONE – Joseph S. Antone, 81, a long-time resident of Jacksonville passed away on Sunday, January 17th, due to COVID19 infection. Mr. Antone was a native of Jacksonville, Florida, having grown up on the Northside. He graduated from Bishop Kenny High School, attended and graduated from Florida State University, and joined the Marines for 6 years, from which he was honorably discharged. He then joined the Air Force, where he spent 12 years and received the Purple Heart and other commendations. Upon discharge, he returned to FSU and received his Masters Degree. He returned to Jacksonville as a teacher and coach in the Duval County Public School System. After retirement, he spent 10 years volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his son Roger Lee Antone of Jacksonville. Survivors include his partner of 25 years, Sally Kehoe; 1 son, Bill Antone of Chattanooga,TN; 2 daughters, Michelle Antone Wiedeman, of Minooka, IL, anLisa Antone Godsey of Jacksonville; 1 sister, Elizabeth A. Gill of Boynton Beach; 2 brothers, Wilbur T. (Buddy) Antone of Jacksonville and Ralph Antone of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Mr. Antone will have a private ceremony and be laid to rest in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Jacksonville.
