Donald Harris Parker, 65, passed away on January 14, 2021 at his home. Don was born on August 14, 1955 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His father was in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Jose California for several years, then moved the family to Jacksonville, Florida. Don grew up on the westside of Jacksonville and attended Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. Don attended culinary school in Jacksonville and started his career as a chef. His most notable and favorite workplace was Epping Forest Yacht Club. He moved to Emporia, KS around 1987 and opened a popular restaurant called the Full Moon Cafe that specialized in natural and vegetarian cuisine. When the restaurant closed Don moved back to Jacksonville where he lived for the remainder of his life. Don was preceded in death by his father, Charles Harris Parker, and his mother, Catherine Jeanne Daigle Parker. He will be fondly remembered as a loving brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. Survivors include his sisters, Sami L. Swan (Mike) of Emporia,KS. Karen C. Hermann (Chris) of Durant, IA, and Cheryl A. Villalva (Jon) of Green Cove Springs,FL. Also Don was survived by his nieces Maranda A. Buczinski (John), Charity Vanden Berg, Camille Penney (David), Shelby Word, Isabella Word. Nephews, M.Scot Swan (Emily), Jeremiah Word. Great nieces, Trinity Vanden Berg, Tatum Buczinski. Great nephews, Logan Buczinski, Sage Suchy, Tannis Penney, Alistair Penny, and M. Corbin Swan.
Cremation has taken place and Don's cremains were shipped to his sister Sami LSwan in Emporia, KS. His cremains were inurned with his mother Catherine Daigle Parker, at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Olpe, KS on January 30, 2021.
