Derrick Roy Anders, 60, of Yulee, Florida passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the
Warner Center for Caring, Fernandina Beach Florida.
He was born at the Navel Hospital in Bethesda, Md. Derrick was the son of the late
Tyrone Anders and Mary Welch Anders Jones.
Derrick lived most of his life in Duval and Nassau County, Florida. He was a graduate of
Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. He retired from The City of
Jacksonville as a fleet technician in 2022. He previously worked at Burger King where he
met his wife of 37 years. He also worked at Scott’s Plumbing, and owned his own auto
detailing business for many years. Derrick had a love for his automobiles, especially his
1967 Camaro Super Sport he owned before getting married.
From an early age, he was a diehard Georgia Bulldog fan. Some believed he would bleed
Red and Black if he were to get cut. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life.
Derrick loved Jesus and had an uncommon faithfulness to his Lord and to His Lord’s
church. He had served as a Sunday School Teacher and was faithful in his church life
both at Hedges Baptist Church, and Yulee Baptist Church. He could be found helping
other in numerous ministries. He loved singing and participating in the men’s Bible
Study.
Derrick was a faithful man who dearly loved his children. He invested himself in the lives
of his two boys Ty and Caleb. He loved taking Ty and Caleb to the NHRA Gatornationals
drag racing events in Gainesville, Florida. He will be remembered for his faithfulness, his
simple ways, and his heart of gold.
Derrick was saved at a chapel service at Trinity Christian Academy. After receiving the
Lord, he was baptized at the Maple Avenue Baptist Church on the Westside of
Jacksonville. Derrick loved witnessing for the lord and went door-to-door each week
sharing Christ and inviting people to church for many years.
In addition to his father, Tyrone Anders, Derrick was predeceased by his step-father
Larry Jones, and his brother-in-law, Randy Crosby.
He leaves behind his wife Beth Anders, his mother Mary Jones, and two children Ty
Anders (Natalie), and Caleb Anders. In addition Derrick leaves behind his sister Trish
Boyce, and step sister Janet Hillis. A father-in-law Charles German and a mother in law
Patricia German, a sister-in-law Belinda Mehler, and several extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at Yulee Baptist Church, 85971 N Harts Rd. Yulee, Fl
32097, on March 9, 2025 at 5pm with dinner following in the church fellowship hall.
