In Loving Memory of Vasil Dhimitri

March 22, 1948 – July 24, 2025

With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Vasil Dhimitri, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and resilient man of honor, who passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife, three daughters, and grandchildren.

Vasil was born on March 22, 1948, in Korçë, Albania. A man of great discipline and intellect, he pursued his education at the prestigious Skënderbej Military Academy during his high school years. He went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Military Studies, as well as a second Bachelor’s degree in History and Geography, both with honors. He also completed a thesis in historical science, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning and academic excellence.

While attending the University of Tirana, Vasil met the love of his life, Vasilika, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond. The two married in 1972 and built a life filled with love, courage, and integrity. Together, they raised three daughters: Enkelejda, Monika, and Alisa. His legacy continues through his seven adoring grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

In the early years of his career, Vasil served in a key role within Albania’s main military corps. However, in 1978, when the communist regime executed his father-in-law, he was faced with a cruel ultimatum: to abandon his wife or be removed from his military post. With unwavering moral conviction, Vasil chose love over career and stood by his family. He sacrificed his position and, for 13 years, worked as a mechanic — a job he carried out with quiet dignity and strength.

With the fall of communism and the arrival of democracy in Albania, Vasil was finally able to return to work in his field. In 2000, he emigrated to the United States, where he found a new beginning and embraced his new home with gratitude. He often said that America gave him more years of life, and he cherished the opportunities and freedoms it offered.

Vasil was known by all who knew him as an incredibly positive and peaceful man. He radiated calm and kindness, never showed signs of anger, and never spoke badly about anyone. He lived with deep patience, love, and humility, always encouraging those around him with warmth and grace. His presence brought comfort, his smile brought light, and his spirit left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

He will be remembered for his remarkable integrity, quiet strength, gentle soul, and unwavering love for his family. He was a man who lived by his values, and whose sacrifices and example will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife Vasilika, daughters Enkelejda, Monika, and Alisa, and seven grandchildren.

May his soul rest in eternal peace
