Peter A. Pomeroy, affectionately known as Pete, Dad & Pop-Pop to those who loved him most, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025 at the age of 80. Born on November 5, 1945 in Roscoe, New York, Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Ray Pomeroy. He is survived by his loving wife, Monica Pomeroy of Fernandina Beach, Florida, his brother Frank Pomeroy (Karen) of Ashville, North Carolina and his sister Penny Constant (Jeff) of Woodbourne, New York. Pete also leaves behind his four children and eight grandchildren:

Helen(Stu) Potlock and their daughters, Sarah and Sydney of Tallahassee, Florida

Rusty Pomeroy (Dawn) and their children, Emily and Raymond of Killington, Vermont

Lory (Steve) Dumenil and their son, PJ of San Antonio, Texas

Pete(Youk) Pomeroy and their children, Samantha, Rayna and Luke of Fairfield, Connecticut.

Pete was a devoted father who rarely missed a game, recital or school event. Annual Fathers day golf outings with his father Ray and sons Rusty and Pete were cherished traditions. He remained deeply proud of the adults his children became and never missed an opportunity to express that pride through cards and phone calls.

A legendary joke teller- a gift inherited from his mother Ruth. Pete was always ready with a hilarious, often cheeky story. As Pop-Pop, he was warm, generous and playful. He never missed a birthday or holiday card, always tucking in a little cash "just for fun." His grandchildren treasured visits to Fernandina Beach, were they collected shells, dined out and scratched lottery tickets gifted by their beloved Pop-Pop.

From 1967 to 1999 Pete owned and operated the Ronald M. Albee Insurance Company in Roscoe, New York. He was known for his compassion and dedication to his clients. He served three terms as president of the Roscoe Kiwanis Club and two terms as president of the Roscoe Chamber of Commerce.

In 1980 Pete was elected President of the Independent Insurance Agents Association of New York (IIAANY), representing his peers at conferences across North America. In this role he successfully lobbied Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan to oppose legislation that would have negatively impacted New York consumers. His involvement in IIAANY led to lifelong friendships, a stint as the lead in the barbershop trio "The Independents" and - most importantly - introduced him to the love of his life, Monica.

Pete and Monica married in 1987 and shared a love marked by unwavering support, and daily kisses and expressions of love - even in disagreement. In 1999, they moved to Fernandina Beach, guided by dear friends Tommy and Marcia Dietz. There, they became active members of Memorial United Methodist Church, where they found a second family.

Pete found deep joy in volunteering, especially through "Pete's Place Library", a collection of donated books at "New to You", part of the Barnabas Center. He cherished the thousands of new friends he met through his work.

A red wine enthusiast, Pete and Monica enjoyed years of monthly Wine Club gatherings with the Dietzes/Hartungs and friends Larry and Doris Davis. Beyond his family, Pete's greatest companions were his beloved dogs, Sasha and Dolly.
