Gene Robert Rowland, 77, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Wednesday, March 25th, 2026.

Gene lived a life centered on unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, quick smile, sharp wit, and a remarkable ability to bring laughter to every conversation. Gene was an avid golfer and loved to watch his Gators win.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, embodying courage and patriotism. Following his military service he had a long career and retired from Bell South.

Gene was respected not due to grand gestures, but through his loyalty, honesty, and the way he carried himself with integrity everyday; a testament to the man he was.

Above all Gene’s greatest love was for his wife Faye of over 55 years and his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife Faye, his daughter Jennifer and his cherished grandchildren Morgan Porter (Brandan), Mackenzie Guinn (Cody Keevan), Adler Guinn (Sarah), Lileigh Jacobs, Leigh Ella Jacobs and his great grandchildren Rowland Porter, Shawn Guinn, and Gene Adler Joseph Guinn expected in May 2026. He is also survived by his brother Gary Rowland (Charlotte) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn, his parents Paul and Gloria, his sister Sharon Tubig (Nick), and his brother Scott.

Gene leaves a legacy of strength, honor, and deep abiding love. He will be forever missed, but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of being loved by him.

Gene and Faye are members of Fruit Cove Baptist Church.

At Gene’s request a private honor guard service will held reserved for family only at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
