Joji Zarbo Obituary

It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Joji Socorro Zarbo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of Christ.

Born in Roxas City Capiz, Philippines. She graduated from Columban College in 1980 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. In August 1979, she received the gift of salvation and began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that would guide and shape the rest of her life.

As a devoted Navy wife, she faithfully supported her husband and family through many duty stations over her spouse’s years in service in the United States Navy, including Hawaii, San Diego, Guam, Lemoore, Puerto Rico, and Japan. Wherever life took her, she created a loving home marked by hospitality, compassion, and unwavering faith.

She had a special gift for caring for children, whether family or not, and countless lives were touched by her playful kindness, nurturing spirit, and generous heart. Her love for the Body of Christ was evident in the way she served others and invested deeply in her church community. She was an active member of Life Group and Prayer Group at Chets Creek Church, where she faithfully encouraged and prayed for many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Alagbay and Greta Alagbay, and by her sister, Helen Acolentaba.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Anthony Zarbo; her children and their spouses, Jared Paul and Rhiannon Zarbo, Bethel Tabitha and Tim Trask, and Joel Anthony and Melody Zarbo; and her cherished grandchildren, Maven Belle, Margot Reese, Jonathan Ambrose, Joseph Augustine, Michaela Carmel, and one precious grandchild on the way.

She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Irenn Love, Victoria Cerico, Frances Powers, and Melissa Ravelo; and by her nephews, Ian, Eddee, Edward, Edmund, Elijah, and Daniel.

A Viewing and Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 20, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Eternity Funeral Home—4856 Oakdale Ave, Jacksonville, 32207.

Her legacy of faith, prayer, compassion, and steadfast love will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
