Obituary of Valerie C Blake
VALERIE BLAKE, of Callahan, FL, passed away after a brief illness, on May 25, 2019. She was born in West Hartford, CT. She enjoyed raising her daughters, Claire and Deb, in rural Thomaston, CT. She was a true entrepreneur, who was extremely talented in interior design. She had a successful fine draperies and upholstery business in Connecticut for many years. She retired to Callahan, Florida in 2012. In her retirement, she enjoyed landscape gardening, volunteering and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. Valerie Blake is survived by; her daughters, Claire (Skerstonas) Lescelius and her husband, Sean Lescelius, of Monterey, CA and Deb (Skerstonas) Lagana, her husband, Beni Lagana of Portland, CT, her grandchildren, Gregory and Jenna Lagana, of Portland, CT, her cousin and dear friend, Jean Kelsey, of Middletown, CT. She is preceded in death, by her mother, Valerie Innis Blake. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Jean Moran, an amazing friend, who afforded Valerie a beautiful and comfortable retirement home, who also provided peace and love as she passed into heaven. We offer heartfelt thanks to the in-home Nassau Community Hospice team as well as the inpatient staff at the Jane and Bill Warner Center in Fernandina Beach, FL, the level of care and compassion that all of you provide is truly amazing.
