William Henry “Hank” Capps died from complications of a broken hip on November 5, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 77.

He is survived by his sister, Wilda (Capps) Attaway and brother-in-law Sid Attaway, nephew Jayce Holley, niece Cherie LaValle and several great nephews and nieces, cousins Robby Alice Booth and Vernon Capps.  Henry is preceded in death by his wife Jill (Maina) Capps.

Henry was born on June 9, 1942 in Hollywood, FL to Lola Iris (Walters) Capps and Bradley Henry Capps. He graduated from Taylor County High School and shortly thereafter moved to Los Angeles to attend the prestigious Pasadena Playhouse.  He was graduate of Pasadena Playhouse and California State Northridge, B.A., Literature.

Henry was songwriter and poet.  His first and only CD represented his ability to write and tell varied stories.  He was also a writer of cowboy poetry which was published in the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry located in Sterling, CO.  Numerous western artists throughout the southwest often performed his poetry.

The cremation will take place in December with a private scattering of ashes.  Per Henry’s wishes, no service will be held.  Instead say prayer, whistle a tune, hum a song in his honor.

The family wishes to thank Karen T. Bolt, Bradley Fort, Anne Marie Fort and Raine Araya for their loving care and efforts.
