Obituary of Charles Alton Jones

On November 24, Charles (Chuck) Alton Jones lost his battle with cancer and departed this mortal coil.  He was preceded in death by his spouse, Dorothy Jones (Flaugher), his father, Charles Edmond Jones, his sister, Angelia Price (Jones).  He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Jones and Jennifer Jones, his mother, Mary Joy Jones (Thweatt), his brother, Michael Keith Jones  & his wife Sue, his niece, Wendy Harding Irvin, his nephew, Jared Price, and countless cousins and other adopted family.

Chuck was an avid motorcycle rider who loved spending time on 2 wheels and rode with friends whenever he could.  In his younger days he was a SCUBA instructor and spent as much time in the water as he could.  He loved to laugh and make horrible dad jokes which made those around him smile.

He served in the US Navy from 1973-1993 and then worked at the United States Postal Service in Jacksonville FL as a Mail Handler for 20 years.  He loved the comradery there and worked until his health would not allow him to continue.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 30 at noon at Eternity Funeral Home, 4856 Oakdale Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
