Obituary of Jacqualine Woods Alberts

Please share a memory of Jacqualine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jacqueline (Jackie) Woods came into this world on September 8, 1953 and was called home with the Lord on February 28, 2020. Jackie was born in Harlem, New York out of the union between Jack Melton Woods and Queen Victoria Baker. Jackie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Greater Central Baptist Church. She received her formal education in the New York City Public School system. After graduation, she worked several years at the Franklin Simon department store where she developed her lifelong love for fashion and design. Jackie then followed a family tradition of civil service and began a career with the United States Postal Service, where she worked for decades, moving through the ranks until she retired. Upon her retirement, Jackie moved to Florida with her life-partner Ricky Jones. Moving to Florida was one of the joys of Jackie’s life. It afforded her the time to do what she loved most, entertaining and celebrating life with family and friends. You could always find Jackie in the kitchen, just like her mother, always asking “you want something to eat sugar?” Jackie lived big, but most all, she loved big. Whatever she did, she put her heart into it. Jackie is preceded in passing over by her father, Jack Melton Woods, mother, Victoria Baker Woods, brother William Earl Baker, brother and sister-in-law Walter Robert and Barbara Pryor, and life-partner, Ricky Jones. Jackie leaves to cherish her loving memory: her sister Lois Victoria Woods and sister-in-law Sharon of Snellville, GA; nephews Terrence Pryor of Washington, DC, and Trevor Pryor of North Augusta, S.C.; grandnephews Prince Kaleb Pryor, Terrell Walter Pryor and Trevor Pryor Jr.; cousin-sister Vinda V. Brown (Harry) of Jacksonville, FL; aunt Hermine Elizabeth Hart of Jacksonville, FL; cousin-brother Eddie Brown (Blanche), of Wilmington, NC; niece Eboni N. Wallace, of Jacksonville FL; soul-brother Dave Martin, Jacksonville, FL; best friend Adonis Small of Rosedale, NY; sisters-in-law Carol Jones Dean (Willie) of Rosedale, NY; Kim Phillips (Anthony) of High Point, NC; brothers-in-law Eddie, Mark and George Jones of Queens, NY; father-in-law James Jones of Queens, NY; dear friend and companion Louis Henderson of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of relatives, extended family and friends. A Fallen Limb Another limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says “Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the food, the song. The good life I lived, while I was strong. Continue my legacy and heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling, and surely the sun will shine through. Please be assured my mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls. I will miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes that we’re together again. Author Unknown
