J. Eric Thompson, 61, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
Born in Pittsburgh, Eric was the devoted son of the late Alexander Campbell Thompson III and the late Lois Beckfield Thompson.
Eric is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Samantha (Jesse) and Mason (Kelly); his grandchildren Cole, Kaylee, Abigail, and Kennedy; his siblings, Cam (Eileen), Grant (Liz), and Janet (Tom), along with many nieces and nephews.
Eric was affectionately known as Pops by his grandchildren, though he would regularly argue it should have been spelled Popz. He would dabble in jokes about things such as depends and Philadelphia sports teams. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and would mention their Super Bowl ring count at any opportunity.
Eric was a character, he was a goofball, he was flawed, he was loved, and he will be missed dearly.
A private final farewell event will be scheduled within the next several weeks.
