"Charles Wendell Martin, Jr. was born July 24, 1951 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Charles Wendell Martin and Zora Newsom Martin. He took for his life partner, Connie D. Carter, who preceded him in death in 2020. Wendell, Connie, and her son, Richard T. Carter, Jr. made their home in Arlington. Wendell was an avid audiophile throughout his life, and became the lead singer for a local band which enjoyed some success, including playing at one of the first Jacksonville River Runs. He was smart, articulate, funny, sarcastic, talented, and sometimes difficult, too. He loved old movies, plants, animals, art, and nature. He is survived by his “step” son, Richard T. Carter, and his sister, Rebecca L. Martin. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery."
