Obituary of Robert James Pfleiger

Robert James Pfleiger, age 78, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 3, 2021. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father, and beloved grandfather (Papa). He was born April 10, 1943 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. He moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota when he was in ninth grade. He met his wife, Mary, while working at Glacier National Park in Montana. They married a year later, and just recently celebrated their fifty sixth anniversary. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, he went on to work for Honeywell and later was transferred to Nashville, Tennessee. He opened his own HVAC business, Ener-Tech Industries, in 1980. Additionally, he and Mary helped establish High Hopes in 1984, an early childhood development center for children with special needs. He and Mary moved to Fernandina Beach in 2014 and he was able to enjoy the beauty of Amelia Island during his retirement years. Bob was a lover of the outdoors who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing. He had a keen sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller. He and Mary enjoyed spending weekends at “the farm” in rural Tennessee, traveling, and cooking together. A lifelong Catholic, he was an active member at St Ann's Catholic Church (Nashville, TN), Cathedral of the Incarnation (Nashville, TN) and St Francis of Assisi (Yulee, FL). His faith was an integral part of his entire life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Lalie Pfleiger and Casper (Lefty) Pfleiger, his aunt and uncle Mary and Frank Pfleiger, and his brother Raymond Duane. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary, his sister Carol Fryxell (Allen), his uncle Jake Pfleiger, his daughters Karen Blan (Brad), Ann Marcus (Steve), Paula Thrasher (Dean) and Laura Pfleiger, and his grandchildren Connor and Cody Blan, Abigail (Rook) and Ella Marcus, Grace and LucyThrasher. Memorial services will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Yulee, FL on Saturday, January 15th at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10:00 am.
