Denzel Ray Craft Junior
Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Nephew, Denzel Ray Craft Jr, 68 of Jacksonville, Florida died Thursday, December 29, 2022.
Ray was always as enthusiastic about living a full life as he was in encouraging everyone he knew and loved to live their best life ... one of authenticity and adventure. In his later years he devoted time to art, design, carpentry, and learning the challenges of new technology with iphones and social media. His most favorite past-time was golfing and reconnecting with old friends and new marina friends living aboard.
Ray attended Wingate University, Elon, UNC, JWU Culinary Arts and Jordan High School. At a young age he began his career in the construction industry, working his way up to Construction Management, Residential and Commercial Estimator and General Contractor for numerous commercial buildings in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Ray was a Master Carpenter as well as Counselor/Instructor for The Healing Place of Raleigh.
Upon his death, Ray was retired, spending quality time living aboard his boat in Jacksonville, Florida, consulting various residential construction jobs and traveling home to North Carolina to visit family and friends. While visiting he assisted them with many home improvement projects which will be deeply cherished by his family.
Ray is survived by his two sons, Brian Craft and Taylor Craft of Wilmington, NC, grandchildren Lori Craft, Christopher Craft, Alexis Craft, and Cameron Craft of Wilmington, NC, Kensey Craft and Keenan Craft of Durham, NC, daughter-in-laws Katherine Cuna of Durham, NC, Lisa Padgett Craft of Wilmington, NC, and Angel Morin of Lumberton, NC; sister Carolyn Craft of Durham, NC and brother Gregory Craft of Henderson, NC, and mother of his sons, Patricia Everett of Raleigh, NC.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 at 12noon at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, 200 Hayes Road, Chapel Hill, NC. Rev Dr. Clarke French will officiate. The family asks that donations be made to The Healing Place of Raleigh, N.C. or The Church of the Holy Family, Chapel Hill, NC.
