Sunrise: August 1, 1975 Sunset: May 8, 2023 Armondo Mendez Byrd, Sr. a/k/a “Red” was born in Camilla, GA on August 1, 1975 to Cassandra L. Byrd and Willie Hazley. On Tuesday, May 8th 2023, Armondo, father, son, brother, nephew and mentor passed away suddenly at the age of 47 years old. Armondo attended Mitchell Baker High School where he worked to obtain his high school diploma. He moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1991 where he continued his studies and finished his education at Florida State College Jacksonville (FSCJ) receiving his GED. Armondo went to truck driving school in 2001 and obtained his CDL. He was gainfully employed working in the truck driving industry for many years and was experienced in vast roles within the industry, such as semi-trucks, flatbeds, cement trucks, dump trucks, long and short halls as well as diesel trucks with multiple hazmat certifications/endorsements. In Armondo’s spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his kids, playing play station, studying the word of the Lord and helping where he could. Armondo was a member of Oak Grove AME Church. He will be forever remembered by his precious kids Armondo Mendez Byrd Jr. and Natalya Amani Byrd. His parents Cassandra L. Byrd and Willie Hazley. His step mother, Tina Hazley. His grandmother Jane Hazley. His sister Shantell Byrd, brother Andwele Hazley (Brittany) their kids Zy’lannie Hazley and Gianna Hazley, his aunts and uncles Rhonda Chester (Sell), Carolyn Hall, Claretha Ross, Deidre Hazley. He left a lasting imprint the hearts of many including numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family of the late Armondo M. Byrd, Sr. would like to express our sincere gratitude for every act of kindness. Every phone call, text message, prayer and thought was well received and appreciated. Your compassion and support will always be remembered. Our prayers is that God will bless you and keep you. We also pray for safe travels to those who may have come the distance to celebrate the life of our loved one. Your support during this difficult times means a lot to this family. Celebration of life services will occur on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00am, at Trinity Baptist Church 800 Hammond Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32221.
