“As you were, you will always be, treasured forever, in our memory. I keep in my heart, the love of the past, for there it was planted, forever to last. Your presence I miss, your memory I treasure, loving you always, forgetting you never.” (Anonymous) Almira Pašić (born Hadzimuratović), 52, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on March 13th, 2023, after a sudden illness. She was surrounded by her three children, niece, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. Almira was born on May 2nd, 1970, in Zvornik, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She spent most of her life growing up in the small neighboring town of Kozluk, where she completed her education and worked for a shoe manufacturer. Shortly thereafter, Almira met her soon-to-be husband Memnun Pašić; they wed on September 1990, and started a family. Unfortunately, an ethnically rooted war broke out in 1992 and they were forced to flee their home. Almira and Memnun had to restart their lives several times while immigrating to Austria and Germany, until they made their permanent home in Jacksonville, Florida. Memnun and Almira learned English, and quickly adopted the American lifestyle. They became U.S. citizens and re-completed their higher education. Almira was a very active member in the community and at work. She held multiple management and leadership roles in the banking, customer service, and retail fashion industries. Almira held her family in high regard, rarely sitting to rest for long before taking care of the next activity. She was also a multifaceted artist, who loved to draw, paint, and crochet in her spare time. Almira enjoyed baking and making extravagant culinary delights for her family and friends. She embodied the spirit of adventure, a proud member of the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens. With her children and beloved pets by her side, she treasured long trails and hikes, reveled in concerts, embraced the local art scene with fervor, explored antique markets, and delighted in traversing new lands. Every step was a journey, every destination a story, as she immersed herself in the beauty of historical sites and the wonders of the world. Almira was full of life and always spread her knowledge and happiness to others. Many who knew Almira would consider her a true friend and someone who could put a smile on your face. Growing up with the Islamic faith, she developed a deep spiritual connection. Over time, her exploration of other philosophies and traditions enriched her perspective, fostering a more holistic worldview. Almira was predeceased by her loving husband Memnun Pašić, and her father Mehmedalija Hadzimuratović. She leaves behind her next of kin: Emina Pašić, Mehmedalija Pašić, and Memsudin Pašić; her mother, Nevzeta Hadzimuratović, and two brothers: Mehmed and Almir Hadzimuratović. Almira’s memorial service was held in private. If you wish to make a donation in honor of Almira Pasic, you may do so to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Almira will be missed by many, we have lost an angel, but are glad that she will be re-united with her beloved in Heaven. Almira lived every day like it was her last, she would have shared the message for all of you to do the same.
