Jonnas Vincent Wilson passed away on March 13, 2024, in his hometown of Jacksonville, FL. He was born to Virginia Wyche Wilson and Edward D. Wilson Sr. on August 16, 1960, in the same city that he would call home for the entirety of his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 8 on July 28, 1968, and was baptized at West Union Baptist church.
Jonnas was a graduate of Paxon Senior High School, class of 1978, where he simultaneously earned a certification in auto mechanics also with his high school diploma. Jonnas shared his knowledge and love for auto mechanics by working on cars, trucks, and motorcycles for others wherever he went and whenever he was called upon. In addition, he was a semi-truck driver for various companies. He learned carpentry and concrete work, and was an entrepreneur of sorts. Jonnas collected what some viewed as trash and turned it into cash.
In 1979, Jonnas became a father. His children are Verneka S. Blount and William M. Hicks, granddaughter Dominiqua Reddick. He was a very proud father and loved them as only he could.
Jonnas’ siblings, Edward (Carolyn) Wilson Jr., Andrew Bell, Felita Wilson, Timothy (Carshe) Wilson, Dwanda (Brit) Smith, Michelle J. Jones-deceased, and Kevin (Prudence) Wilson Sr. both deceased.
Jonnas enjoyed fishing, motor sports, wrestling and kung Fu movies. His hearty laugh and fun-loving spirit extended beyond his family as he was well-known throughout Duval and surrounding counties.
Memorial service to honor Jonnas will be held on March 23, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at The Hope Building, 6105 N. Myrtle Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32209. A reception will be held at the same location at the conclusion of the memorial service.
Jonnas’ presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and accepted him for the proud and tenacious man he was.
