Joe King, 61, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on March 18, 2024. Born on December 23, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, Joe was known for his unwavering love for his family and his passion for history.
Joe, better known as "Big Joe," had a rich life filled with diverse experiences. He resided in various places such as Rocky Mount, NC, and Ocala, FL, before settling in Jacksonville, FL. A devoted father, Joe is survived by Cynthia Diane George and their daughters, Brittany Nickless (Jeremy), Crystal George, and Beth McClain (Skip). His son, Joshua King. His grandchildren Brayden, MadiLynn, Abigayle, Kailynn, Levi, Vance, Julian, all held a special place in his heart. His favorite sister-in-law, Nancy George Greer and nephew, Timothy Greer. His baby sister Cathy Simmons, sister Wendy Hindal, nieces Jamie Johnson, Ashley Hilburn, and nephews Brandon Hilburn, and Richard H Keating, Mike King and his late nephew Jim Hilburn. Many other family and friends - all will truly miss Joe!
In his free time, Joe enjoyed watching movies of all genres, cheering for his favorite football team, the Jaguars, and engaging in outdoor activities like visiting water parks, going to the beach, and camping. He was a history enthusiast with an impeccable memory, making him someone you never wanted to challenge in a debate.
A Celebration of Life service in honor of Big Joe will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 4:00 pm, hosted by Cindy George, Brittany Nickless, Crystal George, and Nancy Greer at 4748 Sefa Circle N., 32210. Please come sit by the bon fire, eat Joe's favorite foods and let's reminisce on the good ole days!
