Louise Moody, 89, of Jacksonville, FL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday April 3, 2024, after a brief illness. Louise was born in Surrency, GA in Appling County on September 14, 1934. Prior to
retiring she had a career she loved in cosmetology- specifically as a hairdresser and instructor.
She loved her family deeply and is survived by: her husband of 50 years Dr. H. Watson Moody,
her daughter Janice Cooner Cieplinski (Richard Cieplinski), her son Todd Webster Gamel, her
step-children Dianne Lampp (Gene Lampp), Randy Moody, Tina Payne and Teri Starling (Mike
Starling). 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her sister
Pat Bryant, her brother Jimmy Bohannon and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Louise was
preceded in death by: her mother Ruby Thornton Bohannon, her first husband Milton Cooner
(Janice’s father), and her second husband Jim Gamel (Todd’s father).
Louise supported her husband Dr. Moody, who is a pastor, for many years and loved singing in
the choir, doing solos and group specials during church services. Louise was a wonderful cook
and baker. She loved preparing meals and desserts for friends, family and church members
when they were sick or celebrating. She loved gardening and took pride in her flowers and
garden at home and at their church.
Louise was a wonderful homemaker and loved having her family over for meals and
celebrations throughout the years. All of her grandchildren fondly call her “Nanny” and she
always loved to spoil them in ways that were special to each individual one. There are many
traditions and memories that will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren. She was able to live to see the birth of her great-great
granddaughter marking 5 living generations at one time.
