Obituary of Jeffrey Carlyle Rust
Please share a memory of Jeffrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeffrey Carlyle Rust died on April 30th at the age of 64 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the youngest of three sons (Jack, Steve and Jeff) born to John and Jeanne Rust of Fairfax, Virginia. Jeff grew up in Fairfax. He went to Robinson High School and graduated from George Mason University.
Jeff was a lover of music from an early age. As a toddler he would pull himself up to the stereo and dance to the music. He had a complete drum set by the time he was five. He went on to perform with cover bands on big stages in Florida.
Jeff loved animals and felt an especially close affinity with every dog he ever owned from Rodan to Bear.
Jeff could make you laugh at the drop of a hat with his celebrity impressions. The three Rust brothers were known for raucous basketball games with their nephews on their parents’ driveway.
In his mid thirties Jeff moved to Florida. He loved the climate and being near the ocean. In 2016 he was rear ended on the interstate and spent his remaining years as a paraplegic in a nursing home and in his last year living independently.
Jeff had a strong spirit and endured, keeping his sense of humor until the end. A graveside ceremony will be held at a later date back in Virginia.
