Obituary for Edith (Edie) McSorley (1935 - 2024)
Edie McSorley, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, at the age of 88 in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Born on October 28, 1935, in Newark, New Jersey, Edie spent almost 60 years living in Iselin, NJ before relocating to Florida in 2021. She had a career with FedEx in the International Department, where she fielded customer service issues worldwide. However, her true life's work and greatest joy was her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, filling their time together with laughter, making memories, and living life to the fullest while enjoying each other's company. Edie considered her family and friends her greatest personal achievement and blessing.
Edie is survived by her four children, Joseph McSorley (Paula) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Scott McSorley (Lori) of Ortley Beach, NJ, Keith McSorley (Cida) of Marietta, GA, and Tracy Anderson (Van) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She also leaves behind her sister Lorraine DeBenedetto and brother-in-law Tom Lewis of Waretown, NJ, eight grandchildren, Joni, Audrey, Tyler, Sarah, Taylor, Laura, Trevor, and Kyle, as well as four great-grandchildren, Violet, Iris, Jaxon, and Sawyer. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and close friends. And of course, her beloved cat, Marty.
A celebration of Edie's life will be held later, details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257, or give online support.communityhospice.com or the Nassau Humane Society https://nassauhumane.org/donate.
Edie will be deeply missed by her loving family and all who knew her in Iselin, Jupiter, Fernandina Beach and around the world. May she rest in eternal peace.
