Obituary of Paul Berghorn
Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paul Berghorn (63) passed away in Fernandina Beach, FL on November 15 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Paul was born in Smyrna, DE to John and Ruth Berghorn. A man of many trades, Paul started working at age 13 training thoroughbred horses for sulky racing for Irving Davis Farm. They traveled throughout the NorthEast to shows. He also plowed crop fields all over Kent County, DE and later joined his dad working at Hardy Construction. He later started his own Painting and Home Rehab business in DE and continued when moving to Fernandina Beach, Florida until his passing. He loved fishing, working and vintage country music. He was charming and charismatic, quick with a joke and ready for a laugh. He was a friend a friend would like to have. He was a great Dad.
The world is smaller without him and heaven is bigger with him.
Paul was one of five siblings, Eirline Berghorn and John Berghorn, who have passed, and Dan Willey of Hartley, Delaware and Judith Franklin of Tennessee.
Paul is survived by his daughter Katy Lu Thomas (26) and his lifelong companion Debbie Thomas, both of Fernandina Beach. His daughter Julianne Patterson (36) and grandchildren Donnie McClement (19), Destiny Patterson (17), and Ruthie Jesse (15) of Bridgeville, DE
Paul passed at home surrounded by family.
A memorial celebration will be held Saturday November 30, 3-5 afternoon in the gazebo at Dee Dee Bartles Boat Ramp, Fernandina Beach, FL. Memories and stories are welcomed.
