Mitzye Royal Scates, 88, of Jacksonville, FL was born July 27, 1936 in Ambrose, GA. She and her husband of 63 years, Bud, built a home where all were welcomed, loved, and heard stories of God’s saving grace and faithfulness. She was a longtime member of Parkwood Baptist Church where she spent decades serving others through various ministries. She showed her love for God in words and actions and as a result, all who knew her were blessed. On January 7th, 2025, she left this world holding her daughter Robin’s hand and was welcomed into heaven by her late husband Bud and her grandson Bradley.

She is survived by daughter Robin Ellis (Johnny), son Tray Scates (Sherelene), daughter Tabitha Anderson (Will), and sisters Jean Gunter and Marsha Goodin. She was also known as Nandee to 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. All will miss her caring spirit, her encouraging words and her helpful hands. Well done, thy good and faithful servant.
