Gloria F. Vanier, 88, passed away at Jacksonville Baptist Medical Center on Tuesday July 7, 2020 at 5:37 am. Gloria was born on September 15, 1931 in Madison, Maine to the late Arthur K. Lombard, and MaryAnn M. (Lamore) Lombard. Gloria met her husband Richard P. Vanier in Portland Maine and were married July 19, 1952. They lived in Nashua, New Hampshire until they moved to Fernandina Beach in 1983 where together they managed the Ocean View Motel from 1984 to 1987.
Gloria F. Vanier was an amazing, loving, caring mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and was known to most as “Grammy”. She loved Bingo and knitting.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard P. Vanier and their son David C. Vanier and one sister Dolores Foster, and 3 brother Arthur K. Lombard Jr, Leo C. Lombard and Howard E. Lombard.
She is survived by her sister Sandrajean E. Lombard of Williamsburg, Virginia and brother Raymond R. Lombard of Fernandina Beach Florida and her 8 children, Paula Winkle of Fernandina Beach Florida, Morris R. Vanier of Dunedin Florida, Wayne R. Vanier of Framingham Massachusetts, Dale R. Vanier of Fernandina Beach Florida , Darlene J. Whalen of New ipshwich New Hampshire, Jerri L. Demo of Littleton New Hampshire, Tracy I. Vanier of Fernandina Beach Florida, Charles Penney of Maine.
As well as 12 grandchildren; Jason Post, Shane Post, Brandon Prince, Andrea Vanier, Philip Vanier, Michael Vanier, Mathew Vanier, Adelia Boyar, Arwen Whalen, Just Demo, Ben Demo, Richard Vanier and 20 great grandchildren.
Per her wishes, there will be no formal services. At a later date close family and friends will gather in her honor for a "Celebrate Of Life" and all those she has touched and inspired throughout her life.
Rest in Peace and soar like the Eagles and fly with the Angels.
