I met Ross in 1970 the day we both began college. He shared a dorm room with Richard Long, across the hall from mine, during the first year. We became instant friends, spending those tumultuous years trying to get through college, experience pretty much everything that we possibly could, and grow up....all at the same time. We shared a lot of mutual interests, including guitars and music, and I recall spending many many late nights enjoying the songs we played and created. I think I could write a book given all the memories from those brief years.
Eventually we took different life paths and we let time and distance get in the way of staying in touch like we should have.
I learned of Ross's death this morning, from another old friend who was part of "the crew" in those days. It's going to be a melancholy day.
Ross, hopefully we'll still have those old Gibsons with us the next time we see each other so we can finish those unfinished songs and play the ones I still remember....and recall those tumultuous days. Rest in peace my old friend.
