Pamela Yvonne Lunsford Sands age 62 from Okeechobee, Florida passed away on July 12th in Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Keith Sands of forty three years. Funeral service will be held for this couple on August 20th at 12:30 at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Jacksonville National Cemetery on the day of the service.
Pamela was born in Alachua county, Florida on August 30, 1958 to Mary Evon Sweat and Paul Aaron Lunsford Sr. She was raised, loved, and cared for by her “Daddy” Marvin Leon Downing. She attended Okeechobee High School and was a bicentennial graduate in 1976. She went on to earn a certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. She worked as an LPN for a few years at local hospitals and nursing homes. She then worked as a hospice nurse for a few more years. It was at that point, Pam decided to stay home and finish raising her two children as family had become very important to her. She enjoyed volunteering at the San Mateo ballpark for many years and served on the board as her girls grew up there. She even became a coach for one of the teams. She was a huge fan of art and even liked creating her own.
Pamela is survived by her daughters Aime’e Nicole Sands of Tampa, Florida and Jeri Renai Sands of Clinton, Utah. Siblings Paul Aaron Lunsford Jr of Deltona, Florida Mary Downing Richards of Mount Vernon, Washington Tracey Downing Mckinney of Valrico, Florida and Kennith James Downing of Palmetto, Florida. Parent Marvin Leon Downing of Lecanto, Florida Grandchildren Brianna Evon Morales of Ogden, Utah and Julianuh Rogue Mata of Clinton, Utah. and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pamela is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Keith Sands (2019) and her mother Mary Evon Sweat Downing (1994).
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to University of Florida North ICU, Community Hospice Inpatient Unit at St Vincent’s Medical Center, and Eternity Funeral Home for all the love and support through this most difficult time.
