Obituary of Pauline Learue

Please share a memory of Pauline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pauline Learue of Jacksonville, FL passed away on the morning of July 13, 2021 and is now in the presence of her Lord. She was born in Jacksonville on July 3, 1927, making her a glorious 94 at her passing. She was a hair stylist for over 50 years and owned her own salon until her semi-retirement at the age of 70. She worked part-time for five years and then fully retired. She had a large clientele and was adored by them and, for a number of them, styled their hair for their funeral service. Her attention to detail, as a stylist, lent itself to her being very particular about how she looked and dressed. She was always a classy lady. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Hassey and Cora Rhoden, brothers Earl Rhoden and Dorsey Rhoden, and neice Darcy Ruth Judy. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Conrad (Randy), dearest friend and housemate, Thelma Carter, granddaughters, Allison Dowdy (Paul) and Ashley Scanlan (James), nephews William Rhoden, Robert Rhoden and Cole Rhoden, and five great grandchildren. The things that brought special joy to Pauline were plants/gardening, collecting antiques and vintage treasures, bird watching, traveling and, without a doubt, the Florida Gators; she was truly a fanatic and believed that there was good reason that the sky was blue and the sun was orange. She was a season ticket holder for many years and loved the games and the accompanying tailgating. There were many special gator friends and some of those special ones that remain are Jackie Browning (always there for Pauline and Thelma), Connie Norsworthy (also a special shopping buddy) and Ruby Dodson. Of special note is that Thelma Carter, along with being a friend and housemate, was a loving and committed caretaker. It is safe to say that she truly spoiled Pauline. Pauline was full of life, love and kindness. She will be truly missed by her family and friends that remain. For Pauline, it was and will always be: “IT’S GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR!” There will be a closed memorial service for family and very close friends.
