Staff Sergeant Malcolm Kenneth Frasier died on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Malcolm (or Mal as he was often endearingly called) was born on May 11, 1963, in New York, New York. He resided in Jacksonville, Florida at the time of his death. Malcolm is survived by wife (Dagmar); his children: Mykeal (Samantha) Frasier (son), Donnell Frasier (son), Ebonie (Brian) Valentine (daughter), Dominique (Alex) Frasier (daughter), Malcolm Barnes (son), Destiny Barnes (daughter), Malcolm Terrell Frasier (son); his grandchildren: Jason, Christopher, Elijah, Aarrianna, Victoria, Kamerion, Aryn, Cole, Kamryn, Londyn and Daila Dawn. Also, his 3 step children: Tamara, Damian (Elizabeth) and Angelique along with 5 other grandchildren. He also leaves behind siblings: Rodney Thomas (brother), Donnell Thomas (brother) and Tracy Frasier (sister); aunts: Joan Guyton and Yvonne (Grady) Miller, and a host of other family, cousins, nephews, nieces, and close friends who will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents Malcolm Frasier and Brenda Thomas, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and younger brother, Marc Frasier. Malcolm’s commitment to serving others began early in his life. In early 1980, he volunteered with the Guardian Angels Safety Patrol group, a non-profit organization. Malcolm dedicated time to doing safety patrols with other Guardian Angels throughout the streets and subways of New York City. He served meticulously and with delight. At age 17, Malcolm signed up for Job Corps, a program that provides education and vocational training to young men and women. Malcolm learned many things through Job Corps, however the training in brick laying was most significant to him. The teaching and training experience through Job Corps encouraged the ambition and aspirations he expressed to one day join the military. Aside from his family, Malcolm’s greatest devotion was to his military service. His commitment to military service began in July 1985, when he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. This, and his passion to drive trucks, he had talked about since he was a young teenager. After serving several years in the Army National Guard, in 1994 the time came to re-enlist. With the encouragement and support of family and fellow National Guard soldiers, Malcolm made the decision to re-enlist, but this time he switched over as a full-time active-duty soldier with the United States Army. Malcolm served on many missions with both branches in Field Artillery and Transportation units, before working in the S-1 administration offices prior to retirement. Both branches included successful deployments (Operation Desert Storm, Bosnia, Afghanistan) and various field training missions. Malcolm’s military work and successes were recognized as he was rewarded with a plethora of awards throughout his military career to include but is not limited to being a Purple Heart recipient. After 30+ years of military service, Malcolm retired from the United States Army with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). His experience in the United States Army National Guard and United States Army played an intricate part in his life. He frequently demonstrated that the Army taught the value of discipline and teamwork. He invested time in a cause larger than himself. He illustrated how these principles from his successful military career would contribute to the standards he demonstrated as a civilian while employed at Hub Group Trucking in Jacksonville. SSG Malcolm Kenneth Frasier’s final resting place will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, a United States National Cemetery located in Jacksonville, Florida.
