Obituary of Lilla Corbitt
Please share a memory of Lilla to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved Granny Corbitt took her final Earthly breath while simultaneously opening her beautiful eyes to eternity in the arms of our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 4:44 pm. Thank you, Jesus!!
Born to Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Nancy Delk in Homerville, Georgia on March 29, 1933, she had recently celebrated her 89th birthday with not only one but two birthday parties surrounded by her cherished family. In her words, she was “nearly a hundred.”
At the innocent age of 15, Lilla married Newsome Corbitt and tended to him with the grace and mercy of an archangel every day of his life until he took his last breath. They had three children, Newsome, LaRita, and Christopher Corbitt. All three sadly preceded Lilla in death.
Lilla is survived by her firstborn granddaughter Dawn McCarthy, husband Jeff, and great-grandsons Austin and Ayden. Grandson Newsome Corbitt and wife Corley, Christian Corbitt and wife Jenny, great-granddaughter Callie and great-grandson Cason, Grandson Isaac Corbitt and wife Mary-Evelyn, Granddaughter Alexis Corbitt, Granddaughter Faith Aydelotte and husband Nathan, Grandson Sean Corbitt and wife Andra, and Daughter in laws Gentry and Dawn Corbitt.
Everyone who met Lilla is of the same opinion that she had to be The Lord's MOST FAVORITE child and hands-down the most amazing Southern cook. The impact she had on her entire family, friends, countless local churches, and Christian missions worldwide is immeasurable. Lilla Corbitt’s SOLE purpose for living each day was to win as many souls to Jesus as she possibly could. EVERY day she prayed for and over her ENTIRE FAMILY naming them ALL, one by one. There was NEVER a day she missed. If you met her even ONCE, rest assured tonight that YOU have been prayed for by Granny Corbitt. She faithfully paid 10% tithes on EVERY SINGLE PENNY that she and her husband earned over their lifetime, NO EXCEPTIONS, and far more above that in additional offerings. How many people could ever honestly make this statement?
The list of blessings bestowed unto others by Lilla Corbitt was innumerable. Even in her passing, she extended a final departing message through the apparent "meaning" behind the exact time of her Earthly departure for anyone and everyone who may still "question God or seek signs.” Granny Corbitt passed away wrapped in the arms of her granddaughter Dawn at precisely 4:44 pm. "The number 4:44 is a spiritual number that represents the energy of unity and togetherness. As such, a key thing to know about this “guardian angel number” is that it is not something to be afraid of. It has been said to bring people hope and joy because of how it signifies protection offered by the angels."
Lilla J. Corbitt is the most holy, blessed, divine, heavenly angel of all time and she is joyfully HOME for ETERNITY. Thank you, Jesus.
A celebration of Lilla’s Heavenly Homegoing will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 1:00pm at Freedom Christian Fellowship 3423 Loretto Road Jacksonville, FL 32223. All who loved her are welcome to pay their respects.
