He was,is the birth father of our children Morgan and Meagan. Unfortunately for all we parted many years ago and there were long periods of unwanted estrangement between he and I and he and our children.John deeply profoundly loved his daughters and fought for them, and due to a much battled addiction won and lost,at various times (which was not at ANY time brought around the children physically) he ultimately lost custodial care of them. It broke his heart and I truly know he died with the same broken heart. I met John at 17,he 23,freshly discharged from a promising Army career as an E5,marksman,blonde and beautiful with sparkling blue eyes, same eyes our daughters have. Very hands on affectionate father, who was ecstatic and fufilled to have his own family,as his own childhood was extremely challenging, fraught with difficulties. Unfortunately, sadly, painfully we parted as a family 6 years later. I loved him no matter the circumstances-my first love. We tried to reunite many times, eventually moving on in different directions. I last saw him 2007,by chance and it was nice,we talked.Even exchanging contact, social media info...never knowing it'd be the last time I'd see him alive. He died too early and I've yet to learn why.Ive honored him and I have a huge part of my heart that's filled with the good memories.I'll never forget him and think of him daily. I LOVE YOU JOHN DEEPLY.I WILL KEEP YOU SAFE IN MY HEART AND MY MIND.FOR ME YOU WILL LIVE ON. REST IN PEACE...YOUR "MONY"

John was quite a guy, and an absolute respectable man of God. We worked together for several years doing tree service work with Chris Griggs. John was an exceptionally skilled climber, once he finally went up the tree. He liked to procrastinate. A bit after we landed at the job, he would be found sharpening his saw blades. Then just when you thought he was ready to climb up the tree, he would be seen pulling the baby sapling suckers from the trunk of the tree. Then, you’d think he’s ready to climb the tree, but nope, now he would pick up the rake and clear everything away from the trunk of the tree. But once he had climbed up, strapped in, and was ready to cut, John always took another few moments to close his eyes and quietly pray to God for the safety of us all. John was always a lively, energetic man, until June 2014, when his beloved wife, Wanda Lee Davis Rook passed away from cancer. John was never again the same lively, energetic man after her death, but I’m sure she was there to meet him at the Pearly Gates of Heaven with a big smile, and smiling back at her, he took her hand into his, once again, and they’ll live a happily ever afterlife. Rest In Peace, Wanda and John Rook. You will be missed, but I’m glad you’re together again. - Carin Creel
