(Bill) Kintz, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in Jacksonville, FL. Bill was the first-born child of Vincent and Bernice (Gnau) Kintz, born on May 18, 1940 in Fort Wayne, IN. Following high school, Bill joined the Army, serving in France and Germany. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Saint Francis College in 1970, followed by a master’s in Social Work from Indiana University in 1972. He worked for Catholic Social Service / Catholic Charities in Fort Wayne from 1972 to 1986. During the Flood of 1982, Bill coordinated flood relief through the parish outreach in Fort Wayne, and was honored to meet with President Reagan during his visit to the area. Later that year he received a Letter of Commendation from President Reagan for his efforts in organizing volunteer outreach services. He moved to Florida in 1986, taking the job as Director of Substance Abuse Services for Catholic Charities in Miami. In 1999, he moved to Jacksonville, FL., spending 9 years as Vice President of Family Foundations of Jacksonville, a family counseling service providing clinical, employee assistance, school and community-based services. He had been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Supervisor since 2000, and served most recently as an Associate Teaching Professor and Jacksonville-area coordinator for the Florida State University College of Social Work where he coordinated field experiences and supervision of FSU Social Work students. He was a devout Catholic and Deacon at St Ephrem Syriac Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Over the course of his 50-year career in social work, and in his work with the church, Bill was able to make a positive impact in countless lives in Fort Wayne, Miami, Jacksonville, and beyond. He was a friend to anyone who met him, and loved to share a light-hearted joke or random fact gleaned from hours of reading and research with anyone who cared to listen.
